The Netwell Centre in Dundalk Institute of Technology is hosting the Good Morning Louth telephone service for older people and wishes to recruit for a:

General Description of Role

The post holder will be responsible for:

  1. planning, organizing, implementing and reviewing the Good Morning Louth telephone service for older people;
  2. recruiting volunteers and ensuring they are appropriately trained for the position
  3. managing volunteers’ relationships with clients;
  4. monitoring, evaluating and accrediting volunteers;
  5. Identifying clients for the Good Morning Louth telephone service and securing consent;
  6. Promote and grow the service in County Louth with a view to sustainability.


Duties and Responsibilities

Recruit, select and manage Netwell volunteers

  • Implement standards of good practice, including writing volunteer policies and procedures;
  • Ensure required standards of health and safety are maintained;
  • Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers;
  • Organise rotas and provide inductions and training;
  • Celebrate volunteering e.g. nominate volunteers for awards and organise celebration events;
  • Offer advice and information to volunteers and external organisations through face-to-face, telephone and email contact;
  • To be available for volunteers to report risk and act accordingly;
  • To develop and maintain suitable administrative, and  database systems ensuring good practice with regard to any sensitive and confidential material;
  • work with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships to influence decisions about volunteering;
  • Identify income generating opportunities, working on funding proposals and attempting to engage organisations that may be interested in collaboration;
  • To take responsibility for recording and forwarding monitoring data to relevant funders;
  • To attend staff team meetings on a regular basis and take responsibility for the agenda, minutes, dissemination and organizing follow-up meetings.  To carry out such other duties as may be required in line with the nature of the post of Coordinator.
